Free vs Paid Traffic

Introduction - What is Traffic?

If you have an online business, then you need to drive TRAFFIC or potential customers to your offers.

As the owner of an online business there are two types of Traffic:  Free or Organic Traffic vs. Paid Traffic.

The more traffic or people that look at your offer and click on your links, the more sales, which means, the more money you will make.  Ideally, you want to put systems in place so that traffic will be driven to your offers 24/7.  Having traffic driven to your offers 24/7 creates passive income streams leading to Financial Freedom

What is FREE Traffic?

Free Traffic is advertising an offer without paying for the advertisement. The best sources of Free Traffic are social media posts.  By posting on social media, your followers grow organically; and you create authority and trust with your potential customers.

Pros:

  • FREE
  • Use the same post on different Social Media platforms (also known as repurposing content)
  • People will more apt to watch non-sponsored content
Cons:
  • Takes Time (need to write the script/copy, create and edit post, schedule the post)
  • Takes Time to get results (growing organically takes longer than paid ads, 4 – 6 months for consistent sales)
  • Can’t target your Audience
  • Reliant on Social Media platforms’ algorithms/rules

What is Paid Traffic?

Paid Traffic is advertising that you pay for.  There are various forms of paid traffic – solo ads and ads on social media.

Pros:

  •  Target Audience – depending on the platform you can target the audience by location, age, salary, interest, and time of day your ad runs to maximize people seeing the ad.
  • Instant Results – when you run an ad you will see an influx of leads within 24 hours. Depending on what your offer is, be ready for this influx whether it’s having your funnel set up or having appointments on your calendar to book calls.

Cons:

  •  Cost Time and Money – you need to research what platform to advertise on, i.e. Facebook vs Google, which solo ad vendor to use, and you may need to write the copy for the ad)
  • Inconsistent Growth – paid traffic can be like using a water tap. When you turn the tap on (pay for ads) the leads flow in, but once you turn the top off (stop ad) then the leads also stop.  Also, when people opt-in on paid ad, they are more likely to unsubscribe unless you establish your trust and authority with these subscribers.

Which Strategy is Best?

When starting your online business, start with Free/Organic Traffic. Get a following, even it if it is small, to establish trust and authority. When you get sales from Organic Traffic, set aside a percentage of these profits to use on Paid Traffic.

Traffic Secret You Should Use

You should use both Free and Paid Traffic. For the best results, your Paid ads should drive people to your Social Media Posts.  Once people start engaging with you on you organically, you will earn their trust and build your authority.  From this organic interaction, it is more likely they will convert by purchasing one of your offers.
