I recommend using your smartphone to record the video and a free editing software like Clipchamp to put the finishing touches and add special features to the video. To become an ‘Empathetic Listener’ you’ll need a quiet location and access to a conferencing software like zoom.
Rent Your Own Car
Rent Your Own Car – if you’re working from home and your car is sitting in the driveway then it can start making money for you. One website you can use to rent your car is Turo.
Rent Your Space
Do you have a shed or spare room or garage or attic you’re not using? Start renting out this space on your property to earn extra cash. Learn more: Go to Neighbor or StoreAtMyHouse.
Virtual Babysitting
Virtual babysitting isn’t for everyone, but if you’re a bit more creative or an inspiring entertainer, this option may be for you. Parents may need to finish a work project or get some tidying done around the house so they will hire a virtual babysitter to keep an eye on the little ones. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about travelling!
Rent a Friend
Introverts or people who have recently relocated are looking for people to help them boost their confidence or introduce them to local activities. You can either be a ‘friend’ virtually or in person. Two sites where you can sign up are Rent-A-Friend and Rent-A-Cyber-Friend.
Online Tutor
If you have a college degree in a certain subject, are a teacher, or a passion for a subject, then you can become a tutor. You’ll need to be available in the evenings and weekends, be organized as you’ll need to create and track lessons with your various students, and have access to video conferencing tools. Online Tutor jobs are posted on most job websites including LinkedIn.
Sell Websites
You don’t have to be technical to create and sell websites but you will need to be contact businesses to make the sales. To create the websites, you can use an AI tool like Durable. Look at websites of your local businesses and then use the AI tool to create an updated version and contact the business owner to make the sale.
Sell Digital Prints
This way to make money online may be a bit controversial but you don’t need to be an artist to sell digital prints. Create digital prints using AI tools like Leonardo AI or design tools like Canva and then list your designs on various platforms like Etsy.
Arbitrage
Buy Low, Sell High! Go to garage sales, swap meets or Facebook marketplace and buy items at a low price. In some cases you can get items for Free – the Facebook marketplace lists free items. Then sell these items at a higher price using DoneDeal, Facebook, Craig’s List, Gumtree, Ebay or other online sites. This way to make money will involve holding physical items, customer service, and a vehicle to collect and deliver items.
Book Narrator
If you listen to books via Audible than you’ll understand the need for book narrators. Listening (instead of reading) to books is a growing industry making narration a skill that is in demand. You will need a quality microphone and quiet space. To sign up to become a narrator: ACX (the largest marketplace) or Findaway Voices.
Sell Courses
If you have a skill, you can create a course to teach others how this skill and then sell your course directly on platforms like Systeme.io or learning platforms like SkillShare.
Transcriber
My grandmother taught me how to touch type and I’ve been forever grateful. (I learned on an actual typewriter.) As a touch typist, one way to earn money, is by becoming a transcriber. Other equipment you’ll need is a set of headphones and a pedal. Files are sent to you electronically and depending on the client you’ll have between 1 – 14 days to provide the transcription. Jobs are advertised on general job sites like LinkedIn or specialized websites like Transcribe Me or Got Transcript.
Dog Walker / Companion
If you love dogs, this is a way to become ‘man’s best friend’ and get some exercise. People are looking for people to walk and play with their dogs. As Benjamin Franklin said, “There are only to guaranteed things in life: Death and Taxes.” People need and want help filing their taxes correctly and on time! The IRS doesn’t have any requirement to become a tax preparer other than getting an identification number.

Answer: Anyone who is paid to prepare or assist in preparing federal tax returns or claims for refund must have a PTIN. All enrolled agents must also have a PTIN.
